Valentine’s Day sees surge in flower sales as Pinoys show affection

admin February 13, 2025

The increased sales reflect a rebound in Valentine's Day celebrations after several years of pandemic-related restrictions.

FLORISTS across the country reported a significant increase in sales this Valentine’s Day as Filipinos flocked to express their affection through the traditional gift of flowers. Roses, both red and other varieties, remained the most popular choice, but a wider range of blooms, including lilies, sunflowers, and orchids, were also in high demand.

“We’ve seen a significant jump in orders compared to last year,” said Maria Garcia, owner of a flower shop in Quezon City. “It seems more people are choosing to celebrate in person this year.” Garcia noted a particularly strong demand for pre-arranged bouquets and personalized floral arrangements.

The increased sales reflect a rebound in Valentine’s Day celebrations after several years of pandemic-related restrictions. Many shops reported selling out of their most popular items by midday. Online flower delivery services also experienced a surge in orders, with some reporting delays due to high demand.

While roses remain a classic symbol of romance, several florists observed a growing trend towards more diverse floral selections, reflecting a broader range of tastes and preferences. Many customers opted for mixed bouquets or arrangements that incorporated seasonal flowers.

The surge in flower sales underscores the enduring significance of Valentine’s Day as a time for expressing love and appreciation in the Philippines. The traditional gift of flowers continues to be a popular way for Filipinos to show affection to their loved ones.
