ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – A police officer was shot dead in the garage of his home in Angeles City, Pampanga on February 3. His wife, also a police officer, has been arrested in connection with the crime.
Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo reported that neighbors heard gunshots on the night of the incident. They found the victim, a police chief master sergeant assigned to the Angeles City Police Office, bleeding in the garage. The neighbor subsequently saw the suspect, a police staff sergeant assigned to a regional forensic unit, holding a firearm.
The suspect was taken to the hospital but later died. General Fajardo confirmed that the firearm found beside the victim was the service weapon issued to his wife. An inquest has been conducted, and authorities are awaiting the results of a ballistic examination to definitively link the weapon to the crime.
Domestic issues are being investigated as a possible motive. The couple had three children, aged two to eleven, who are now under the care of relatives.
