THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has served a subpoena on Vice President Sara Duterte as part of their investigation into her alleged threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The subpoena was received by VP Duterte’s office staff in Mandaluyong. She is requested to appear at the NBI headquarters on Friday. The investigation focuses on potential violations of the anti-terrorism act and charges of grave threats.
The NBI has already requested Facebook to preserve the video of VP Duterte’s remarks last weekend, which will be used as evidence in the investigation.
The subpoena was initially intended to be served yesterday during a House hearing. However, VP Duterte left the hearing to go to Veterans Hospital before the NBI could coordinate with the Sergeant at Arms.
The NBI’s investigation into VP Duterte’s alleged threats stems from her comments made during a late-night press conference last weekend, where she seemingly hinted at the possibility of violence against President Marcos Jr. and other officials.
The subpoena served on VP Duterte marks a significant escalation in the investigation, raising concerns about potential political ramifications and the implications for the ongoing tensions between the Duterte family and the Marcos Jr. administration.
