A MASSIVE fire erupted in a residential community in Isla Puting Bato, Tondo, Manila, on Sunday morning.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) declared a first alarm at 8:02 a.m., but the blaze quickly escalated due to the proximity of houses constructed from light materials.
The fire’s rapid spread prompted the BFP to elevate the situation to Task Force Alpha at 9:02 a.m. By 10:13 a.m., the alarm was further raised to Task Force Bravo.
A significant response ensued, with 25 fire trucks, four fire boats, and one ambulance dispatched to the scene. The affected area, located adjacent to the container terminal of the Port Area, has seen the flames reach houses bordering Manila Bay, as reported by Carlo Mateo on Super Radyo dzBB. Amidst the thick black smoke billowing from the community, residents desperately attempted to salvage their belongings.
