A REWARD of P1 million is being offered to anyone who can provide information on the identity and whereabouts of “Mary Grace Piattos,” who signed acknowledgement receipts for confidential funds from the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
This was confirmed by Zambales Rep. Jay Khonghun and La Union Rep. Paolo Ortega in a press conference yesterday, as Mary Grace Piattos remains elusive.
“We discussed it, and we’ve decided to offer a reward of one million pesos to anyone who can provide information on who Mary Grace Piattos is. The Blue Ribbon Committee and the Quad Committee have agreed to put up this reward,” said Khonghun.
A Commission on Audit (COA) report presented to the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability, or the House Blue Ribbon Committee, revealed that a “Mary Grace Piattos” was among those who signed receipts for the OVP’s confidential fund expenditures.
However, administration congressmen doubt the authenticity of the name, questioning whether this individual actually received a significant amount from the OVP confidential funds, especially in 2022 when Vice President Sara Duterte spent P125 million in just 11 days.
“It’s crucial for us to identify who actually received the money from the OVP confidential funds. Because VP Sara claims that the receipts presented during the hearings are fake, but these acknowledgement receipts came from the COA, and the COA said that these were the ones submitted by the OVP,” said Khonghun.
Therefore, they need to bring Mary Grace Piattos before their investigation, prompting them to offer a reward to help locate her as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Ortega said that they will continue to send invitations to Vice President Duterte to appear in the investigation and personally explain how she used her confidential funds.
Ortega made the statement after Duterte said she will not attend the investigation on November 20, even though she received the invitation last week when she attended the Quad Comm hearing to support her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.
