THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) is pushing for the deportation of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo, claiming she is not a Filipino citizen.
Guo, who is said to be a Chinese citizen named Guo Hua Ping, appeared for the first time at a hearing of the BI’s board of special inquiry led by Chief Gilbert Repizo in Intramuros, Manila. Accompanied by her lawyer Stephen David, Guo contested the BI’s allegations.
Repizo presented evidence from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) showing that both “Alice Guo” and “Guo Hua Ping” have identical fingerprints. He also presented evidence of a falsified birth certificate. “These data were legally, validly and voluntarily given by your client,” Repizo stated, referring to Guo.
He gave Guo 15 days to challenge these findings, including the biometrics, by providing a “competent witness or expert.”
David argued that deporting Guo would be unfair, stating, “It is unfair to deport a Filipino citizen who is not recognized. She will be stateless because no one will accept her. What will be her state then?”
Guo is currently detained at the Pasig City Jail and faces charges of qualified human trafficking and graft. She is accused of using her former position as mayor to establish a Philippine offshore gaming operator firm and a scam hub in Bamban.
