SENATOR Raffy Tulfo expressed support for Senate President Chiz Escudero’s call for the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to identify and immediately inform the Senate of the owner of the white SUV using a “7” license plate.
A video of the SUV using the plate, which is only assigned to senators, went viral on social media after it fled after being flagged down by a Department of Transportation (DOTr) – Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) lady enforcer for driving on the EDSA Busway on November 3.
As Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Public Services, Senator Idol immediately called LTO Executive Director Atty. Greg Pua Jr. to get an update on the issue. Based on their investigation, they found that the plate used by the SUV was fake because it lacked the security features found on legitimate “7” plates.
The “7” plate was also used on both the front and rear of the SUV instead of just the front, and it lacked a conduction sticker. As a result, Idol said they are still unsure who the owner of the SUV is.
Senator Raffy was also informed that only 24 white Cadillac Escalades exist in the entire Philippines, making it possible to identify the owner. The Escalade was reportedly traveling southbound towards Ayala.
Senator Raffy quickly called SAICT Vice Chairman Assistant Secretary Jose “Tracker” Lim IV. Lim said that while the SUV did not stop and escaped, the man in the front seat, suspected to be a security aide of the VIP passenger in the back, rolled down the window.
However, Lim sent a screenshot of the two passengers from the video they captured, so Tulfo also appealed to the public to contact the LTO, SAICT, or Senator Tulfo’s Senate Office if they recognize anyone in the video.
Senator Idol also promised to be fair and impartial in this matter.
