THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned that one to two tropical cyclones are expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in November.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said in a 4 a.m. public weather forecast that historical data since 1948 shows a pattern of tropical cyclones making landfall in the Philippines during November. He added that the cyclones entering PAR this month could reach typhoon or even super typhoon intensity.
“The tropical cyclones often make landfall every November in Luzon, Visayas up to here in the Caraga Region and the chance of changing direction or recurving here in the Philippine Sea is getting smaller,” Estareja said.
He also emphasized that the possibility of typhoons and super typhoons remains high for November. “For this year, one to two tropical cyclones may enter our PAR,” he added.
This news serves as a reminder for Filipinos to prepare for the upcoming typhoon season. PAGASA urges the public to stay informed about weather updates and to take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
