EXPECT a price reduction in electricity charges this month.
According to the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) advisory, anticipate a rollback of P0.3587 (P0.36) per kilowatt-hour (kWh), or an overall rate for a typical household at P11.4295 per kWh this October, down from P11.7882 per kWh in September.
This translates to a P72 reduction in the total bill for a residence consuming 200 kWh.
Meralco previously mentioned the possibility of a decrease in electricity charges due to the decline in the generation charge caused by low Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) charges resulting from decreased demand.
The power distributor stated that the overall rate decrease is due to a P0.3059 per kWh reduction in the generation charge due to low WESM costs.
