2 female lawmakers to file complaint vs Agri party-list Rep. Lee

Metrosundaily October 4, 2024

TO  teach a lesson, two female lawmakers will reportedly file a complaint against Agri party-list Rep. Wilbert Lee before the House ethics committee for alleged rudeness towards them during the final day of deliberations on the 2025 national budget.

This was revealed by House appropriation vice chairperson Rep. Natasha Co after and Marikina Rep. Stella Quimbo as the two were allegedly berated by Lee during the budget deliberations of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

“He berated us and said that if you don’t let me speak, I will cause trouble,” to which Cong. Stella responded to Cong. Wilbert, saying, “Why are you angry with us, we are just sponsors here,” Co stated.

Lee first caused a scene in the plenary when he grabbed the microphone from House deputy minority leader and Samar Rep. Paul Daza to oppose the approval of the DOH budget due to issues with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) allegedly not increasing member benefits.

This led to tension inside the session hall, but before that, Lee confronted Co and Quimbo at the back where the camera did not capture, and only Lee’s apparent outburst was recorded.

After the DOH budget was approved, their colleagues approached Co and Quimbo, where they were seen wiping away tears.

“We cried together because of fear, out of fear we couldn’t stop (crying),” Co said.

As a result, they are reportedly filing an ethics complaint against Lee, who has already filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for his senatorial bid in the upcoming election.
