THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) declared that they can only deport Sheila Guo, the sister of the dismissed Mayor of Bamban, Tarlac, Alice Guo, once all legal cases against her in the local court are resolved.
According to BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval at the recent Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon public briefing, deportation is the final step to be implemented after justice is served within the country.
Sheila is currently in the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), although the legal custody remains with the BI.
She will stay at the NBI until her local cases are addressed, after which she may be transferred to the BI detention center in Bicutan.
Meanwhile, the BI-Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) personnel arrested a 37-year-old Chinese national wanted for kidnapping in an enforcement operation in Parañaque City on September 23.
The suspect identified as Hu Yang was apprehended in Brgy. Tambo, Parañaque City in coordination with Chinese authorities and the Parañaque City Police. BI learned that Hu, also known as Lin Zihao, was declared a fugitive as he was sought by the Public Security Bureau of Jinjiang City in China for kidnapping.
The suspect is allegedly a member of a kidnapping syndicate known for torturing and killing their victims.
Some of his accomplices were arrested earlier this year by the BI in Metro Manila and Pampanga.
“His arrest is a significant step in our ongoing efforts to apprehend foreign criminals hiding in the Philippines,” said BI OIC Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado.
“We will continue to work with our counterparts abroad to ensure that those who break the law are held accountable,” the official added.
According to Chinese authorities, Hu Yang’s passport has been revoked, and the BI Chief stated that Hu will remain in the custody of local police while facing local charges in the Philippines.
