THE Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) confirmed on Sunday the arrest of fugitive pastor Apollo Quiboloy, weeks after authorities began searching the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City.
Quiboloy, who claims to be the “Son of God,” was indicted by the US Justice Department in 2021 for sex trafficking of girls and women aged 12 to 25. These individuals allegedly worked as personal assistants, referred to as “pastorals,” and were required to engage in sexual activity with him.
In June, the Philippine justice department filed charges against Quiboloy for sexual abuse. He and five other defendants have also been charged with qualified human trafficking and other acts of child abuse.
Quiboloy had previously requested a written guarantee from the Philippine government, stating that “there will be no American interference and no extraordinary rendition” in the case if he surrendered to face charges in the Philippines.
Further details regarding the arrest are expected to be released shortly.
