THE Philippine showbiz industry is in mourning due to the passing of movie producer and showbiz icon Lily Monteverde this Sunday morning, August 4, 2024.
Known to all as “Mother Lily,” the Regal Films matriarch passed away at Medical City, Pasig City.
She was 85.
One of Mother Lily’s children, UP Fighting Maroons head coach Goldwin Monteverde, confirmed the sad news through a text message to GMA News.
Mother Lily passed away just six days after her husband, Leonardo “Father Remy” Monteverde, passed away on July 29, 2024. Father Remy was laid to rest at Heritage Park, Taguig City, on Saturday noon, August 3, 2024. The following day, his wife also passed away.
Mother Lily is survived by her children Winston, Sherida, Roselle, Dondon, and Goldwin. Mother Lily’s contributions to the film and television industry are invaluable. Regal Films started in August 1962 when Mother Lily borrowed ten thousand pesos from her sister Jessie Yu to acquire the rights to screen the foreign movie All Mine To Give (1957) in Philippine cinemas.
