THE Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) is prepared to name names with respect to the allegation of its chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco that a former Cabinet official was involved in illegal Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs), a Pagcor official said Monday.
In an interview on Teleradyo Serbisyo, Pagcor Assistant Vice President for External Communications Jun Alano said Tengco would disclose the identity of the former Cabinet member in due time and at the proper forum
“Sabi naman po ni Chairman Al Tengco ay sa tamang lugar po babanggitin niya at ibubulgar niya ang pangalan kaya siguro po baka maghihintay na lang si Chairman ng pormal na imbestigasyon kung halimbawa man ay sa Senado,” Alano said in the interview.
He also said Pagcor had looked carefully into the matter and checked the records to verify the information.
It would appear that more than one official might be implicated in the controversy, he said.
“Mukhang si Chairman mismo yung nakakatanggap ng mga tawag, mga medyo pahiwatag doon sa ilang opisyal. Hindi lang ho ata isa yan e,” he added, as posted on abogado.com
Senate President Francis Escudero earlier said the regulator should name the supposed official to clear others who might be unfairly dragged into the scandal.
“If not, the committee chaired and headed by Sens. [Risa] Hontiveros and [Sherwin] Gatchalian should unmask this official,” Escudero said.
