Romualdez exhorts RSU graduates to contribute to nation-building

admin June 6, 2024

KEYNOTE SPEAKER — Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez delivers his message during Romblon State University's 48th Commencement Exercises, emphasizing the university's crucial role in shaping the country's future.

SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Wednesday exhorted the graduates of Romblon State University (RSU) to leverage their education and expertise for national development, recognizing their crucial role in shaping the country’s future.

“I urge you, my dear graduates, to take an active role in nation-building and shaping the future of our beloved Philippines,” Speaker Romualdez said in his address during RSU’s 48th Commencement Exercises, themed “Transcending Borders: Embracing Change.”

He continued, “Your education and experiences here at [RSU] have equipped you with the tools and knowledge to make a meaningful impact in our society. Let us work together towards creating a better and brighter future for our nation.”

Apart from serving as the commencement speaker, the leader of the 300-plus-strong House of Representatives also led the inauguration of RSU’s University Information System (UIS), a key component of its ICT Modernization Program.

In his speech, Romualdez expressed his confidence in the ability of RSU’s Class of 2024 to rise to the occasion and take on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

He said their time at the university has prepared them to be agents of positive change in the country.

“As you embark on your next chapter, remember the values and skills instilled in you by RSU. Use them to make a difference in your communities and strive for excellence in everything you do,” the House leader said.

He assured graduates that the future is promising and expressed confidence that each of them will make a significant impact in the world.

“You are only at the beginning of an education that lasts a lifetime — and RSU has given you the skills and values that will be with you to succeed where others cannot,” the Speaker stressed.

Shortly before the graduation ceremony, Speaker Romualdez led the unveiling of the UIS, also known as the SMART Campus Program.

He was joined by House Committee on Appropriations Chair AKO BICOL Rep. Elizaldy S. Co, Romblon Lone District Rep. Eleandro Jesus F. Madrona, and RSU President Merian P. Catajay-Mani.

“This project signifies a new era of smart campus in Romblon and will revolutionize the way information is managed and shared within the university,” Speaker Romualdez said.

According to the House chief, the UIS will streamline university processes, automate tasks, and enhance data security measures to ensure efficient operations and protect sensitive information.

“Through the Campus Portal, we will promote engagement and collaboration among RSU community members, creating a conducive learning environment for all,” he said.

He added, “By leveraging technology and innovation, we aim to cultivate future-ready students who excel in the digital world and contribute to academic excellence and creativity. These initiatives will set RSU apart as a unique institution in the region and beyond.”

In closing, Speaker Romualdez congratulated the graduates and praised the faculty, staff, and administrators of RSU for their dedication to excellence.

“You have built a strong institution and enduring legacy upon which our future rests, and I am more bullish than ever on what is yet to come for your beloved State University,” he said.
