IN an event held at the EOD/K9 Group compound in Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City, PNP Chief, Police General Benjamin C Acorda Jr., together with Mr. Vincent Cooper, Senior Regional Security Officer of the US Embassy in Manila, and PATROL partylist Representative Jorge “Patrol” Bustos, graced the turnover ceremony of six advanced Bomb Removal Automated Vehicle (BRAVE) robots.
The event also included the groundbreaking ceremony for the new EOD/K9 Group Headquarters on Monday.
Generously donated by the United States Anti-Terrorism Assistance (ATA), the BRAVE robots exemplify the power of international collaboration in combating terrorism. The event highlighted the indispensable role of De La Salle University in this initiative, and the PNP expressed gratitude for the innovative work carried out by students under the guidance of Dr. Elmer P. Dadios, Head Professor in Robotics Engineering.
“This collaboration showcases the synergy that can be achieved when diverse talents and shared goals converge,” stated PGen Acorda. The initiative not only embraces innovation but also signifies a commitment to excellence and technological advancements in law enforcement, reshaping the future of policing in the Philippines.
Simultaneously, the groundbreaking ceremony for the EOD/K9 Group Headquarters marked the initiation of a modern base for the said PNP unit, headed by Police Brigadier General Albert G Magno. This state-of-the-art facility addresses the evolving challenges faced by law enforcement, ensuring that personnel are equipped with the infrastructure needed for effective operations.
General Acorda emphasized, “This moment is a celebration of the spirit of collaboration, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to public service. The combined efforts behind the BRAVE robots and the EOD/K9 Group Headquarters symbolize the nation’s dedication to staying at the forefront of technology and preparedness.”
