Tong Santos, in a press conference, vows to donate his salaries to the poor.
DINALUPIHAN, Bataan- Since he was a barangay captain up to the time he was a municipal councilor, Herman ‘Tong’ Santos has been donating all his salaries to the poor.
A leader like no other, Santos or Tong as fondly called by friends and relatives, said that it was his pledge that as long as he is in the political arena “he will continue to donate his salaries to the needy and underprivileged who have no other persons to turn to.”
A highly-respected leader in this strategic town, Santos was the “annointed one” to replace outgoing mayor Gila Garcia after he was chosen by the Garcias (Gov Abet Garcia , Congressman Joet Garcia, and Mayor Gila Garcia to endorse his candidacy to run for mayor here, giving his opponents a “run for their money.”
In a press conference over the weekend with local media, Santos said that he will continue to donate his salaries if he is given the chance to become mayor of this town.
A successful businessman who engages in importation of trucks and heavy equipment, construction, gas station and restaurant, Santos pointed out that he was devoting his time 50 percent on politics and 50% on his business.
Santos proudly told newsmen that his name was never marred by corruption and that the people know and appreciate this. “Hindi ako nadawit sa corruption, may takot ako sa Diyos at gumagawa lang ako ng tama,”( I was not involved in corruption and have fear on God and just doing what is right), said Santos.
He added that he will continue the programs started by Mayor Garcia, create more employment and invite more investors in this town.
