THE Monkayo local government said the numbers of deaths in the landslide in rose to nine after two more bodies were recovered on Friday, according to the municipal government.
In separate Facebook posts, the Monkayo local government said the remains of Ritchell Rebuldad, 35, was found at 11:30 a.m., while the body of Agnes Bitoon was recovered at 12:23 p.m.
The search, rescue, and retrieval operation team is still looking for two more missing persons in the landslide.
Reports said the victims were holding prayer worship inside a home at Purok 19, Pagasa in Barangay Mt. Diwata when the land gave way and buried them on Thursday. An infant was critically injured in the incident.
“Batay sa latest sitrep nasa more than 3,400 po na mga pamilya ang nasa evacuation centers… More than 13,000 din na mga indibidwal ang nasa mga iba’t ibang evacuation centers,” she told Dobol B TV.
A total of 270,206 people or 70,862 families in Davao Region were affected by inclement weather caused by a shear line, said the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
Around 36,000 people were displaced from their homes, of which 14,921 people or 4,217 families were staying in evacuation centers, while 21,870 persons or 5,767 families were staying in other places.
