FOLLOWING the signing of Ara Galang, the Chery Tiggo Crossovers announced on Tuesday that they have also enlisted Aby Marano for the 2024 Premier Volleyball League season.
For the 31-year-old middle blocker, joining Chery Tiggo has reignited her excitement after the disbandment of F2 Logistics.
“Actually, I am really excited to be a part of Chery Tiggo. It’s like when you’re driving, you know, it feels great to accelerate with Chery,” she shared.
Marano is also eagerly anticipating reuniting with her former national team teammates.
“At the same time, the players from Chery, I’ve been with them in the national team—especially Mylene Paat, Jasmine Nabor, Shaya (Adorador), Eya (Laure), (Jennifer) Nierva, and many more. So, I’m excited to be working with these players,” she continued.
Throughout her career, Marano has been known for her ‘Beast Mode Don’t Care’ mentality. She vows to bring the same mindset to Chery Tiggo.
“They (the fans) have known me as a player with a very big heart—very passionate, vocal, and a leader. So, I want them to expect that from me. Going to Chery Tiggo, I will bring all of that. A message to our fans: Thank you very much for all the time you supported us with our last team. We hope they accompany us and join us in our new journey with Chery. To all the Chery Tiggo fans, we are excited for your warm reception,” said the 5-foot-8 blocker from Passi, Iloilo.
“I hope we achieve our goal. We will try our best and work hard to give you a really, really great fight. We will fight for Chery.”
Ara Galang has chosen her new home
The prolific 5-foot-7 spiker from Angeles City, Pampanga, has signed with Chery Tiggo.
The Crossovers made the announcement on Tuesday.
In Chery Tiggo, she joins a plethora of spikers, headlined by former league MVP Mylene Paat, Pauline Gaston, the Laure sisters, and Princess Robles.
“I’m very thankful because there is an opportunity like this to play for Chery, and I’m super excited because it’s the first time I’ll be with different teammates, so I joined a team where I don’t know many people,” she said.
“The only ones I know are Buding (Duremdes) and Ate Mylene Paat. I’m excited to work with and play with the younger players.”
Galang, 28, spent the last seven years with F2 Logistics.
However, the company decided to disband its team, the Cargo Movers, last month.
Galang is excited about what lies ahead as she starts a new chapter in her career.
“I’m always giving my all, so I will give my best in every training, every game, every day. I will do everything I can to contribute and help the team,” she said.
“To my supporters, thank you very much for all your support and love, and I hope we can meet and be together in my journey here at Chery. To Chery fans, I’m excited to meet you, and I hope you support me and all of us for a beautiful future.” pvl.ph
