THE Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) freed 108 additional persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from prison facilities nationwide.
This brings the total number of PDLs released before Christmas Day to 1,093, with an additional 200 set to be released before the year’s end.
The release of PDLs was based on various grounds, including the completion of maximum sentences with good conduct time allowance, parole, acquittal, and expiration of their maximum sentence.
“This is a wonderful Christmas gift for our PDLs and their families, who will be together this holiday season. We aim to release 1,000 by December, and we have surpassed that target,” BuCor Chief Gregorio Catapang Jr. said.
In the recent culminating activity, 985 inmates were released as part of efforts to address prison overcrowding. abogado.ph
