FORMER Bayan Muna representative Teddy Casiño has filed a P2-million civil damage suit against ex-National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) spokesperson Lorraine Badoy and Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI) host Jeffrey “Ka Eric” Celiz for consistently red-tagging him publicly.
In a 34-page complaint submitted to the Makati City Regional Trial Court, Casiño sought the following:
A. Moral damages of P1,100,000;
B. Exemplary damages of P500,000;
C. Nominal damages of P500,000;
D. Attorney’s fees of not less than P100,000; and
E. Costs of the suit.
Casiño alleged that Badoy and Celiz, with the support of NTF-ELCAC, falsely accused him of terrorism and murder and of being a high-ranking CPP officer, exposing him to potential harm or death.
“This legal action is long overdue. Since 2020, these two characters, aided and abetted by the NTF-ELCAC, have been falsely, maliciously, and repeatedly accusing me of being involved in terrorism, rebellion, and other crimes as a supposed high-ranking official of the CPP-NPA-NDFP,” Casiño stated in a statement.
“As a leftist activist, I have been called many things by my detractors. But to be falsely and repeatedly accused of being a high-ranking official of an organization arbitrarily designated by the Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC) as a terrorist organization, and accused of orchestrating the death of thousands and the destruction of the country, is just too much,” he added, as posted on abogado.ph
Recently, broadcast journalist Atom Araullo also filed a civil damage case against Badoy and Celiz. On July 20, Badoy targeted him and his mother Carol Araullo during a conversation on Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s SMNI network. Badoy’s remarks included questioning why Atom Araullo, leading a comfortable life, wasn’t recruited into the NPA.
Carol Araullo also previously filed a complaint against Badoy and Celiz for their incessant red-tagging.
