Speaker hails congressional spouses group’s compassion, uplifting people’s lives

admin December 7, 2023

SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Wednesday night commended the Congressional Spouses Foundation, Inc. (CSFI), particularly for their initiatives that showed compassion, encouraged cooperation and contributed significantly to uplifting people’s lives.

“As we gather here tonight in the spirit of the holiday season, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the remarkable journey we have embarked upon together this past year,” Romualdez said in his message during the CSFI Christmas party at the House of Representatives.

“The accomplishments of the Congressional Spouses Foundation, Inc., under your diligent stewardship, have not only been impressive but have also significantly contributed to the betterment of our society,” added Romualdez, leader of the 300-plus strong House of Representatives.

CSFI is spearheaded by its Chairperson, Tingog Partylist Rep. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez.

“Your contributions go beyond mere donations. They represent hope, empowerment, and a better future for those in need. From the earthquake victims in Turkiye and Syria to the various local organizations like Marillac Hills and the Haven for Women, your impact has been profound and far-reaching,” Romualdez said.

Among others, Romualdez cited CSFI’s Art Exhibit themed “Counting 365 Days of Art,” held in collaboration with the Portrait Artists Society of the Philippines Inc., which showcased the rich tapestry of Filipino creativity and talent.

“Our traditional Giant Christmas Tree Lighting became more than just a festive celebration; it was a meaningful fundraising event for our non-organic employees at the House of Representatives,” Romualdez added.

He also noted CSFI’s commitment to outreach, exemplified in the gift-giving activity for the non-organic personnel which touched the lives of approximately 800 individuals.

“This act of kindness truly embodies the spirit of giving that defines this season,” Romualdez said.

He also noted CSFI’s laudable projects in 2023 like the “CofFEellowship” in the Bangsamoro Administrative Region and the engagements with retirees, reflecting the group’s dedication to inclusive community building.

Romualdez said other CSFI 2023 projects, including the National Livelihood and Trade Fair Committee Meeting and the regional visit to Cebu, underscored the group’s commitment to promoting sustainable livelihoods across the nation.

“One of the most poignant moments of the year was the turnover of the Php 1-million check donation to the Turkiye/Syria earthquake victims. This gesture of solidarity and compassion crossed borders and touched lives far beyond our shores,” Romualdez added.

The Speaker said CSFI’s initiatives, such as the “Sound of Freedom” screening and the sponsorship grants for KABUHAYAN 2023, have not only supported economic empowerment but also raised awareness of critical social issues like child trafficking.

“As we look ahead, the upcoming KABUHAYAN 2023 National Livelihood Trade Fair and the continuous support for our non-organic employees through the Christmas Tree Lighting symbolize our ongoing commitment to service and community upliftment,” Romualdez said.

Romualdez expressed his appreciation for CSFI’s unwavering dedication and hard work, saying their achievements are “testament to what we can accomplish when we unite for a common cause.”

“Let us continue to work hand in hand, fostering a spirit of cooperation and compassion. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of many and build a brighter future for our beloved Philippines,” Romualdez said.
