A MAN was arrested after claiming he planted two bombs on a roll-on-roll-off ferry at the Port of Bongao in Tawi-Tawi.
Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) marshals Seaman First Class Christian Leden Marquez and CG SN1 Elmer Dacanay arrested Absin Salahuddin on Wednesday night.
Initial reports said a passenger reported to the sea marshals that the suspect” tried to kill him and was running amok onboard.”
The suspect also reportedly punched a member of the Philippine Marine Corps on duty and tried to grab his service firearm.
PCG sea marshals advised the captain of the vessel to make all passengers disembark as a precautionary measure.
The passengers were allowed to board the ferry again after inspection by members of the PCG K9 unit yielded no explosives.
The suspect was turned over to the custody of the local police.
