THE National Bureau of Investigation – Anti-Human Trafficking Division (NBI-AHTRAD) successfully rescued a trafficked minor believed to be a victim of sexual exploitation in Quezon province.
The operation stemmed from a referral by the Australian Federal Police via the Philippine Internet Crimes Against Children Center.
This came to fore following the arrest and filing of charges against a Filipino citizen in Australia for child-exploitation-related crimes, involving the discovery of child abuse and exploitation materials in his possession.
Following an intensive investigation, NBI-AHTRAD agents identified the victim’s address in Candelaria, Quezon.
On November 16, 2023, NBI-AHTRAD operatives, supported by NBI-Lucena District Office (NBI-LUCDO) and in collaboration with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of Candelaria, Quezon, executed a successful rescue operation of a 10-year-old girl.
NBI-AHTRAD agents are set to pursue further investigations to apprehend those responsible for this criminal activity.
