FOREIGN Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega on Thursday confirmed that three Filipino crewmen were hurt after a Russian missile hit a cargo ship in Ukraine’s Black Sea.
De Vega said a Filipino engine trainee injured his left hand, while the captain and a crewmember sustained minor injuries. He said they are all out of danger, but their families have been informed.
According to Ukraine’s Operational Command South, the missile struck a cargo ship as it entered the Black Sea port’s Odessa region, killing the ship pilot and injuring four others, including a port worker, said the CNN.
The ship was supposed to carry iron ore to China, Ukraine’s Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov said in a post on Facebook.
