DOJ condemns killing of radio broadcaster

admin November 5, 2023

THE Department of Justice (DOJ) has condemned the killing of radio broadcaster Juan Jumalon, a revered figure in the media industry known as “DJ Jonny Walker.”

This abhorrent act of violence against a devoted journalist stands as a blatant disregard for the fundamental tenets of democracy, freedom of expression, and the sanctity of an unimpeded press, the DOJ said in an official statement.

“DJ Jonny Walker’s premature and tragic demise represents an irreplaceable loss, not only to his immediate family and loved ones but also to the journalism community at large and the nation as a whole. His unwavering commitment to enlightening and engaging the public through his platform epitomized the pivotal role that journalists fulfill within our society,” underscored the DOJ.

The DOJ extends its deepest condolences to DJ Jonny Walker’s bereaved family, friends, and colleagues during this period of profound sorrow.

The DOJ stands in unwavering solidarity with them, demanding justice for this brutal act of violence.

It pledges an unyielding commitment to expending every conceivable effort to ensure a comprehensive investigation, the prompt apprehension of the perpetrators, and their subsequent prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.

Furthermore, the DOJ reaffirms its steadfast dedication to safeguarding press freedom and the security of journalists.

“We acknowledge the irreplaceable role of a free and independent media in nurturing a thriving democracy. Any endeavors to suppress or intimidate journalists will encounter the full weight of the law,” said the DOJ.
