DILG: Over 31k PDLs allowed to vote in BSKE

admin October 29, 2023

THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said over 31,000 persons deprived of liberty (PDL) would be allowed to vote in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on Oct. 30.

Of the total PDL voters, 29,133 will vote in the special polling precincts of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

The remaining 1,992 PDLs will be escorted by jail officers and cast their votes in their respective registered precincts in barangays.

The Commission on Elections Resolution No. 9371 states that PDLs who are qualified to vote in the local polls are those with formal charges and awaiting trial while confined in jail, those serving prison sentences for less than one year, or those who are convicted for rebellion or sedition.
