SUFFICIENT buses have been deployed to ferry passengers during Undas even as the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will continue to approve special permits to bus companies.
During his inspection of the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) on Friday, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said the LTFRB has coordinated with bus companies to deploy additional bus units in anticipation of the influx of passengers at terminals.
“Ang LTFRB ay nakipagugnayan sa mga bus companies to see to it na makapag-mount ng mas maraming units [ng buses],” Secretary Bautista said.
“Mas marami tayong bus na gagamitin ngayong Undas at BSKE,” he added.
LTFRB Officer-in-Charge Atty. Mercy Jane Paras-Leynes explained that the agency has issued at least 770 special permits to bus companies as early as October 20.
“As early as October 20 we made sure that we have issued special permits. As of now, we have issued 770 special permits,” OIC Leynes said.
OIC Leynes added that the agency will also issue on the spot special permits at the PITX for additional deployment of buses.
“Para masiguro natin na yung mga dini-dispatch nating bus ay authorized bumyahe,” she explained. “Tuluy-tuloy lang tayo sa pag-issue ng special permits.”
