THE Philippine National Police (PNP) continues its relentless commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity within its ranks. In line with this dedication, the PNP has conducted random drug testing on its personnel, resulting in a notable outcome.
Since the beginning of this year, a total of nearly 116,000 PNP personnel have voluntarily undergone random drug testing as part of the organization’s effort to ensure a drug-free PNP. The results of these tests have revealed 25 personnel, or less than 0.02% have tested positive for prohibited substances.
This figure represents a significant decrease from the year 2016 record of more than 200 personnel tested positive for illegal drugs. This significant reduction is a testament to the PNP’s commitment to rooting out any form of misconduct within its ranks and its dedication to maintaining the highest ethical standards.
As of this date, of the 25 personnel, eight have already been dismissed from the service, one resigned and the remaining are undergoing Summary Hearing Proceedings.
PNP Chief, Police General Benjamin C Acorda Jr. emphasized, “The results of the random drug testing are a clear indication that our intensified efforts to create a drug-free PNP are yielding positive results. We will continue to implement stringent measures to ensure the integrity and professionalism of our organization.”
The PNP would like to express its gratitude to all personnel who willingly participated in the random drug testing, demonstrating their commitment to upholding the law and serving the Filipino people with honor and integrity.
