A LOW-PRESSURE last spotted 925 kilometers (km) east of extreme Northern Luzon has developed into Tropical Depression Ineng, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Tuesday.
In its 5 a.m. advisory, Pagasa said Ineng has maximum sustained winds of 45 km per hour near the center, with gusts of up to 55 km/h in northeastward direction.
The trough of Ineng and typhoon Hannah (Haiku) will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat, bringing rains over parts of the country.
Pagasa has lifted the wind signal over Batanes but warned of possible rough coastal conditions in the province, Ilocos Provinces, the western portion of Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Kalayaan Islands, Lubang Island, and Romblon.
The state weather bureau said Ineng will not directly hit the country, no wind signal will be raised, and it is forecasts to leave the Philippine area of responsibility by Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning.
“Mananatiling malayo sa ano mang bahagi ng kalupaan o landmass itong si bagyong Ineng throughout the forecast period. So ini-expect natin na less likely na magkakaroon tayo ng wind signal sa ating bansa,” said weather specialist Grace Castañeda in the forecast report.
