PHILIPPINE Coast Guard (PCG) spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea (WPS), CG Commodore Jay Tarriela, urges fellow Filipinos to unite amid the recent incident at the Ayungin Shoal.
China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels exhibited dangerous maneuvers and illegally used water cannons against the PCG vessels escorting the indigenous boats chartered by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on August 5.
“Given current developments in the West Philippine Sea, it is important to show loyalty to country,” CG Commodore Tarriela expressed.
“While I recognize freedom of speech as an important right guaranteed by our constitution, it should not be misused as a means to justify unpatriotic actions,” he added.
“Together, we should stand united in protecting our nation’s interests and pursuing a peaceful resolution to the issues. Dahil sa West Philippine Sea, ang yaman nito ay para sa Pilipino!” the PCG Spokesperson for the WPS ended.
