THE Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines has renewed Television and Production Exponents Inc.’s trademark over the phrase “Eat Bulaga” for another 10 years.
The Bored Productive Facebook page posted a copy of the Certificate of Renewal of Registration issued by IPOPHL to TAPE Inc.
It put the date of renewal as June 14, 2023, and the trademark registration is valid for another 10 years, or until June 14, 2033.
Bored Productive also said TAPE lawyer Maggie Abraham-Garduque had confirmed the renewal.
This came amid the ongoing case for copyright infringement that veteran hosts Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon filed against TAPE and GMA network, which also sought to stop them from using “Eat Bulaga.”
The hosts had said that “Eat Bulaga” is their intellectual property
“Yes, we received the certificate of renewal yesterday. Since it has a term of 10 years so TAPE Inc. owns the trademark of ‘Eat Bulaga’ until 2033,” said Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque.
