THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has filed tax evasion complaints against 214 officers representing 127 corporations totaling a staggering P6 billion.
The charges are rooted in accusations of failure to fulfill their tax obligations, including income taxes, withholding taxes, and value-added tax returns, among others.
These cases cover a significant timeframe, ranging from taxable year 2005 to 2019, as disclosed by the BIR.
Despite the gravity of the situation, the BIR has refrained from disclosing the identities of the companies involved.
However, they did mention that the industries implicated are from manufacturing, retail, importing, and construction sectors.
This marks the second instance where the BIR has brought forth such complaints against multiple individuals connected to companies allegedly engaged in tax evasion.
