Housing assistance ready for victims left homeless by ‘Egay’

admin July 30, 2023

RESIDENTS who were left homeless by super typhoon Egay in Northern Luzon are assured by the government of housing repair assistance and “emergency support,” according to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

In an interview, the President said that the government is now in the process of identifying the people whose houses were either totally or partially damaged by the typhoon so that the necessary assistance will be provided.

That’s the problem now,” President Marcos said.

The President is referring to the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), which is responsible for the management of housing and related development while the National Housing Authority (NHA) is responsible for public housing in the country.

Marcos said the government will also provide construction materials to the victims to allow them rebuild their homes.

Some residents in Egay-hit areas in Northern Luzon are temporarily taking shelter at evacuation centers where medical teams and other government assistance have been provided to ensure their safety.

The chief executive assured typhoon Egay victims in the evacuation centers that the government will fast track the rehabilitation efforts so that they will be able to go back to their respective houses and build their new homes.
