Cotabato fire victims get timely aid from Speaker Romualdez, Tingog Party-list

Metrosundaily July 9, 2023

THE Offices of Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez and Tingog Party-list Reps. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez and Jude Acidre have once again responded to help people in need, this time to victims of a recent fire in Cotabato City.

Reports reaching Tingog Party-list showed that some 200 families were affected by the blaze that took place last July 5, 2023 in Purok Tadman, Poblacion 7, Cotabato City. Some 80 homes were totally damaged.

As initial response, Tingog Party-list Cotabato brought to the evacuation center in Datu Siang Elementary School at past 9 p.m. that same night a total of 250 hot meals and 80 gallons of purified water.

Tingog learned that this was the victims’ first meal following the fire.

Meanwhile, Speaker Romualdez is eyeing the distribution of relief goods to the fire victims this Tuesday.

To further help the fire victims, Speaker Romualdez; Rep. Romualdez, chairperson of the House Committee on Accounts; and Acidre, House deputy majority leader have coordinated with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian for the conduct of an AICS distribution possibly this Wednesday.

AICS stands for assistance to individuals in crisis situations. It is considered a quick response program of the DSWD and entails the distribution of cash assistance.
