MAS mainam na lamang tumanggi ang mga pulis sa mga alok na regalo kesa malagay sa peligrong posibleng humantong pa sa pagkasibak sa serbisyo.
Ito ang buod ng mensaheng isinapubliko ni Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director-General Dionardo Carlos kaugnay ng aniya’y nakasanayan ng mga pulis sa tuwing sasapit ang kapaskuhan. Panawagan ni Carlos, sundin na lamang ang mga probisyon nakasaad sa ilalim ng “Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees” – kesa naman maharap sa mabigat na parusang batay sa batas na lumikha ng Civil Service Commission.
“We can’t tolerate any form of bribe in the organization. The PNP has been living up to its core values to protect its integrity. We want to keep it that way,” ani Carlos patungkol sa Section 7 ng Republic Act 6713.
“Public officials and employees shall not solicit or accept, directly or indirectly, any gift, gratuity, favor, entertainment, loan or anything of monetary value from any person in the course of their official duties or in connection with any operation being regulated by, or any transaction which may be affected by the functions of their office,” saad na nasabing probisyon.
Gayunpaman, nilinaw ng opisyal na pwede naman ang mga simpleng regalo tulad ng food packs bilang pasasalamat sa serbisyo – pero hindi ang regalong mistulang panuhol na aniya’y magbibigay bahid sa integridad ng PNP.
