JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla on Thursday revealed that he recently underwent a coronary artery bypass surgery, also known as a “heart bypass.”
Despite the seriousness of the procedure, he affirmed his intention to remain in office, stating that his medical condition would not hinder his performance.
Remulla said that he had personally spoken with President Marcos Jr., who expressed his delight at his successful recovery and improved health.
The Justice Secretary, who previously served as a congressional representative in Cavite, mentioned that he would now undergo therapy and follow a post-operation regimen.
While Remulla plans to officially resume work on Monday, he admitted that he might not be physically present at the Department of Justice (DOJ) compound every day.
Last week, Remulla took a 10-day wellness leave for personal reasons. A statement issued during that time assured the public that the DOJ would continue to uphold the rule of law and ensure justice is served.
The statement read, “The Secretary of Justice will be taking a wellness leave for 10 days, effective immediately, due to personal reasons. We want to assure the public that the DOJ remains committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice is served.”
