Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez and Tingog Partylist Rep. Jude Acidre greet students who were among the beneficiaries of P5,000 educational assistance from the Assistance to Individual in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez and Tingog Party-list Reps. Yedda Marie K. Romualdezand Jude Acidre have joined hands with the Department of Social Welfare and Development to deliver P5000 in educational assistance Thursday to some 900 qualified students in Tolosa, Leyte.

In his brief message to the Tolosa students, Speaker Romualdez noted that the AICS is among the social programs of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., supported by his wife First Lady Louise Araneta, manifesting the Marcos’ administration’s resolve to help those in need.

“Mahal na mahal nila ang buong Pilipinas at ang mga kabataang Pilipino,” Romualdez said.

Speaker Romualdez led the distribution of the cash aid to the students at the Tolosa Civic Center, assisted by Tolosa Mayor Erwin Ocaña, Vice Mayor Menardo Mate with the DSWD represented by Raquel Bateo. Other Tolosa local officials were present to witness the aid distribution.

It could be recalled that some 2,000 youth beneficiaries in Tacloban City earlier received P5000 financial assistance through the AICS program. The release of the P10 million cash aid was also facilitated by Speaker Romualdez, and Tingog Reps. Romualdez and Acidre.

Rep. Yedda Romualdez, Chairperson of the House Committee on Accounts, vowed that Tingog would continue to deliver directly, or indirectly through government agencies such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development(DSWD), services to the people of Eastern Visayas and Leyteños and Samareños in other parts of the country.

As the leader of the House of Representatives, Speaker Romualdez stressed his commitment to helping the Marcos administration deliver the services meant to uplift the lives of the Filipino people, particularly through the budget process.

“Ang budget ay lahat ng nakolekta at naipon natin na buwis sa buong bansa at yan po ay dini-distribute natin sa taong bayan,” he explained.

He said each congressional district in the country or party-list groups have their respective representatives to ensure equitable allocation of the resources of the government, such as assistance programs, essential services, or infrastructure projects.

“Yan po ang trabaho namin bilang congressman at ako, bilang Speaker, namumuno diyan (sa Kongreso) Wala kaming ginagawa araw-araw kundi isipin ang para sa kabuhayan ninyo, ang kabutihan ninyo, o ang kalusugan ng aming mga constituents, tulad ninyo dito sa Tolosa,” Romualdez said.

Meanwhile, Speaker Romualdez also said there are more development plans in the pipeline for the Eastern Visayas and nearby areas, as he expressed confidence that Pres. Marcos would support these efforts.

“Si President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., yung ‘R’ ibig sabihin ay Romualdez. So hindi yan Ilocano lang. Fifty percent Ilocano, fifty percent Waray—taga rito sa Tolosa,” he pointed out.
