DOTr orders attached agencies to brace for Mawar

admin May 25, 2023

DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista

TRANSPORTATION Secretary Jaime J. Bautista instructed its attached agencies to brace for the onslaught of typhoon Mawar (international name) that is expected to cross parts of northern Luzon over the weekend.

The Transport chief directed the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC), Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and other pertinent agencies to ensure sufficient personnel and resources are in place to respond to any disruptions in air, sea and land travel due to the typhoon.

Large and small, private and public seaports and airports in northern Luzon will be on high alert starting when the super typhoon (local name Betty) nears Luzon.

CAAP, PPA, PCG, CIAC & MIAA officials were told to activate preemptive measures and focus on the commuters and passengers whose travels may be affected by the strong weather disturbance.

The Department of Transportation is closely coordinating with other government agencies in their calamity response plans to minimize loss to lives and property.
