Mayor Jopet Inton of Hermosa, Bataan personally leads the distribution of fertilizers, fishing boats and other livelihood to fishermen in the town.

HERMOSA, Bataan -Through the efforts of Mayor Jopet Inton and the Municipal Agriculture Office, DA-BFAR, fishermen in this coastal town received recently P600,000 worth of livelihood to boost the production of aquatic resources in the Municipality.

Officials from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and Mayor Inton personally distributed said livelihood inputs to fisherfolks in Hermosa, Bataan.

BFAR Regional Director Wilfredo Cruz said this is in support to the municipal government’s COVID-19 pandemic recovery program.

Mayor Inton said this partnership (with DA-BFAR) has been realized by the continued distribution not just of ten (10) fiberglass motorized fishing boats but other inputs such as fish, gill, cast, and PE nets last November 19.

Last August, fingerlings, bangus fry and vannamei were likewise distributed to the fisherfolks, said Inton.

He likewise gives importance to food production for the Hermosa folk to contribute to food security.

His coordination and collaboration with the Department of Agriculture for the grant of other intervention for our farmers and fisherfolk is unwavering and continued without let up.

The municipality and the agency awarded motorized boats and various types of fish nets for river and fish pond usage to the town’s fisherfolks that will help them maintain the production of water resources.

Additional production of aquatic resources from the provided inputs will also generate jobs for the women of Hermosa through the added value of producing fishes such as deboning, bottling, and smoking thus empowering their economic ventures.
