2M vulnerable workers receive P8.6B DOLE aid

admin December 21, 2022

AS the crippling effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, including calamities, continued to cut a swath through the informal labor sector in 2022, the Department of Labor and Employment rolled out and distributed some 8.6 billion-peso worth of emergency employment and cash assistance to more than two million displaced workers nationwide.

In its year-end report, DOLE announced that 1.971 million workers benefited from the 8-billion pesos TUPAD assistance or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers, a community-based aid that provides emergency employment to displaced, underemployed and seasonal workers.

DOLE also provided 283 million pesos to 62,290 workers affected by the Northern Luzon earthquake and typhoons Paeng and Karding.

To provide workers with improved and sustainable livelihood, entrepreneurship, and work opportunities, the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) or Kabuhayan program, also provided 358 million pesos livelihood assistance to 21,120 workers.

Meanwhile, the Employees Compensation Program or ECC provided ECP assistance to 3,725 workers.

ECP or the Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP) provides a compensation package to public and private employees or their dependents in the event of work-related sickness, injury, or death.
