234 PDLs released from prisons

A TOTAL of 234 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were released by the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) from various operating prisons and penal farms.

The BuCor said most of these were from the New Bilibid Prison at 128.

This was followed by the Davao Prison and Penal Farm at 47 PDLs while 21 PDLs were from the Correctional Institute for Women.

Data showed that of the 234 PDLs released, 106 were released on parole, 104 served their maximum sentence with Good Conduct Time Allowance, while 12 were acquitted.

Meanwhile, of the PDLs from the NBP, eight were acquitted, 71 were released on parole, and 45 served their maximum sentence with GCTA.

The culminating program was attended by Public Attorney’s Office chief Persida Acosta and Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla.
